Hi,

Simple question please - I'll be spending a week in Sintra in July (work) and would really like to enjoy some beach time.
I'll probably go to Praia da Adraga and Praia da Ursa (I'm a mountain climber - no problem), however I keep hearing from Lisbon people these beaches are very windy which makes sunbathing somewhat uncomfortable or even chilly (in July?!). Can anyone who knows these beaches well advise please?

And if ok by day, would they be chilly in the evenings? I'd like to stay watch the sunset and linger around for a bit (no need for warnings heheh, thanks :)

Much appreciated!

Yeah, the Atlantic beaches can be a bit chilly. The water is quite cold, and with wind blowing, things cool down considerably. But its July - I really wouldn't worry about it at all if I were you, just bring a light jacket and a torch if you're staying for sunset.

If there is a heatwave on, and that happens a lot in July, those beaches are the place to be and will often be packed!

Ha. I thought July should be ok.. So a jacket should be enough after the sun goes down? Great :)

Thanks a lot!

Chill was not much of a problem but every time I went there I found the waves too big for swimming.

Meczko - yeah I heard the sea is rough there, strong currents too, and that people should take care when going in. I think I'll only go in for a few dips if the waves are too big, just enough for cooling down from the sun. Not proper swimming.

Thanks!
