Hi! I'm planning in the end of august to go with my girlfriend to Porto,Lisbon and Faro. We thought to go from Porto to Lisbon by a rent-a-car (do you know a cheap one) and by the way see other cities? Is that plan doable within one day? So starting from Porto in the morning and arriving in Lisbon in the evening? Please help me if you already been there. Another question, what is the waether in august in Portugal?

Have a look at http://www.viamichelin.com/ to find out how much the distance is between Porto and Lisbon is and also how long it will take you, without stopping. The add the time you need to visit some of the towns and cities along the road. I suggest you stop at least in Coimbra.
As far as the weather is concerned, no one knows in advance how the weather is going to be. Have a look at weather-on-line or a similar website to see what the average conditions have been in the past.

So you are telling me that this trip we could do in one day. This is what I'm worrying about if the roadtrip take 1 or 2 days. Because we what to see the most of it but we unfortunatly don't have many days. We plan to start in the morning from Porto and we would like to arrive at night in Lisbon.
Thank you a lot for your response. It was very very helpfull!
Hi,
I'm from Lisbon.
From Lisbon to Porto is a nice tour doing it by car via the coastal line.
If someone (I believe is not your case) want's to go from Lisbon to Porto or viceversa, most probably he will take the highway and in 2,5 hours the ride is done.
In you case, going via the coastal line, it can take as long as you want but probably around one full day.
Some tips:
- at Porto cross the D Luis I iron bridge from Proto to Gaia (lovely by itself), take the left riverbak until the river mouth than drive south until Aveiro, before Aveiro you might want to visit the São Jacinto dunes ...
- at Aveiro, take the A1 highway to Coimbra, visit Coimbra and than drive to Figueira da Foz
- from Figueira da Foz make your way to Óbidos, Nazaré, Sintra and finally you will arrive to Lisbon
Consider that is a SHORT answer like a big book in a nutshell :) but your plan is a nice one.
