Peneda Geres National Park -- suggested base

My boyfriend and I will be spending 1-2 days hiking in Peneda Geres national park. We're wondering which gate is best to stay at. We're looking for 1-2 pretty good hikes and maybe a selection of shorter ones in case we get in later on the first day than we're expecting. We're in good shape and should be able to handle most of the day hikes. Any suggestions for hikes in the park or places to stay would be appreciated as well.
