Mosquito's in Northern Portugal

In late August we are spending two weeks in Porto and Northern Portugal. Does the area suffer with Mosquito's? as they do think my wife is tasty and she always gets bitten regardless of protection.
Can you get antibiotics over the counter at a pharmacy if required for infected bites?

Mosquitoes are highly localised and there's no way that anyone can tell you if "Porto and Northern Portugal" suffer from mosquitoes with any degree of accuracy that would be helpful.

I could think of several different countries and places where mosquitoes could be a problem, but that wouldn't be the area where you're going to stay.
Have visited Porto and northern Portugal several times and had no problem with mozzies there.
