Info on car driving is always advisable... but it needs to be accurate.
Like i told you before (believe me or not is not my problem), if European money was well (and sometimes not) well spend was in building a very good and new national highway system in the last 20 years. The very first highway in Portugal was only completed in 1991. So that means that most of the highways were built after 1991.
All official reports and data shows that Portuguese numbers are closing in on the best European numbers.
Those books still think about Portugal from 20 years ago. But we are not in the 1990's anymore.
Between 1999-2008, Portugal was the leading country in the European Union regarding the largest decreasing on the numbers of road fatalities aged 18-24. Just to give an example.
You sound like in Portugal there are thousands of deaths in road accidents. That's a thing from the past now, at least since the last decade: there's been a decreasing of about 50 deaths and 2.000 road accidents every single year.
Yes, i know there's room for* even more* improvements. But the results are great comparing with the recent past and like i said, there are regions in Portugal already with lowest numbers compared to other European regions, even Germany.
