Hi,

We will be travelling around southern Portugal in a campervan for a week or so at the end of June; driving up the coast from Sagres or Lagos and stopping off on the way up to Lisbon. We're planning on going to Lisbon for a night as this is really all we have time for on the trip. My question is whether it is sensible to try and get a feeling for the city if we only have one night there. Or is it trying to do too much?

So we intend to get there mid morning, park somewhere on the outskirts and get the metro/bus into town, find the hotel (still to be booked), check in etc and then explore in the afternoon... go out that night then visit a market the following morning (probably Saturday) and then leave early afternoon and head back down to the south. (we are driving in from southern Spain and have to return there for flying back to the UK).

If anyone can advise me on whether this is do-able or ridiculous and any extra info that might help it would be most appreciated.

Thanks very much!!

Merlin

#1 is right up to a point. Yes you can do a fair bit in that time the OP mentions.

However, it seems you have limited time and apart from the time you spend in Lisbon there will be time (how much?) taken in driving to the city and back again.

All in all that time might be more productively spent in southern Portugal/Spain rather than taking a long detour for what is basically a flying overnight visit to Lisbon.

I agree with Stevegerms. You've only got a week and you're thinking of covering a lot of ground even without going to Lisbon. Save that time for exploring Southern Portugal more, and for getting out of your campervan and walking around. You've still got to get back to Southern Spain, remember.

Thanks for all your feedback.
I had a feeling this might be the case which is why I asked.

Cheers
