Hi All,

I am planning a trip to Lisbon from London in April 2010, I was wondering how many nights I should stay in Lisbon for?

Plus, can you recommend cheap accomodation as well as must see sights?

Any info will be appreciated!

Thanks!

N.

Are you serious????

Everybody, according to Wikipedia, knows that the correct answer is 6.

Morag, Wikipedia was hijacked by US military intelligence as part of their Operation Lusitania. The original number was 14 but the Pentagon changed it to 6. You need a clean installation of Windows 7 to revert to the original version.

Bloody interfering septics. They'll do anything to Disney-fy the Europe Experience. "Don't stand around too long in one place - unless you are wearing a money-belt purchased from www.ricksteveswillprotectyoufromthosedarnfurriners.com".

It depends on how badly you want to get robbed.

I stayed only four nights but it was sufficient for me to get a taste of the city. Sintra is a definite must-see but, aside from that, just wandering around the city and soaking it up is great. Belem is worth a visit too - some historic buildings and beautifully manicured gardens. Unfortunately I can't recommend my accommodation for, while it was cheap and had a great view of the harbour, the manageress decided to have sex in her office with one of the patrons on the final night of my stay!

I think it depends on how much you want to see and whether you want to do day trips. If you want to stay in central Lisbon the whole time, you can see the city in a few days. If you want to go to Belem, do a day trip to Sintra, go to the beach, etc, you should plan for 5-7 days.

I came to spend 2 days in Sintra and am still here 5 days later - it's such a great town. I'd say that 8-10 days is about right between Lisbon and Sintra, but start in Sintra so you don't realise too late what you were missing out on when you spent so much time in the city!:)
Lisbon Lounge in Lisbon was very nice.
In Sintra I am staying at Nice Way Hostel. It is really great - newly renovated, very clean & the staff are wonderful.
