My boyfriend and I are getting married on July 6th this year and still haven't planned our honeymoon!
We'd like to go to a music festival for the first weekend (11/12/13th July) then head somewhere quiet and relaxing near the sea for the week after. Preferably somewhere with local shops and restaurants but not too touristy.
so a couple of Qs:
1) has anyone been to or heard of the Optimus Alive Festival in Lisbon? We like the line up but don't know much more about it.
2) Can you suggest a nice local villa/B&B we can get to on public transport from Lisbon for the ultimate honeymoon relaxing break.

Thank you!

Optimus Alive is quite popular around here and is one the greatest the Summer Festivals.

Is allways packed and the line up is allways excellent and this year is no exception..
Praia is Beach in Portuguese...

I suggest some places not too turisty. Beaches near Sintra "Praia das maças", or "Praia da Adraga" (near Lisbon also), beaches with cliffs, and you can visit Sintra, a very special place and one of the most romantic places in Lisbon area...(there are nice b&b in praia das macas). There is a 100 year old tram that connects praia das maças to Sintra.

Beaches near Ericeira (50km from Lisbon, bus or taxi), with lots of B&B in Ericeira, a small town with lots of surf spots, beaches with cliffs, very good seafood

Comporta a place near Setubal (50km from Lisbon)(train from Lisbon to Setubal + ferry tpo Comporta), a very good beach, white sand, dunes, very few people.

Aljezur, or Carrapateira in Alentejo (200km from Lisbon, Train or bus + taxi), very laid back places, cool spots, surf sports, good beaches, with some scenic cliffs.

Tavira in Algarve (300km from Lisbon) but very good beaches, islands of sand, white sand, dunes, very good food

Enjoy

Hi,

HMG77 has good suggestions. I'm sending a link to a website I use and which seems to be a good fit for you. www.hideawayportugal.com See the Lisbon Coast section for areas and places to stay in and around Lisbon and then click on other regions if looking beyond.

Enjoy the honeymoon planning!
