Hello, a 7 yr old boy traveling with his mum, spending 4 days in the lisbon area would like to visit some fish markets and/or fishing villages where they get the fish catch in. He is very interested in looking at different types of fish. Any suggestions for fish markets and aquariums ?

Not sure if there is a fish market in Lisbon.
Google search for Mercado do Peixe comes up only with a restaurant called that.
Possibly, you could find a fish market in smaller towns.
But, if you go to a proper fish restaurant, you'll find there a lot of fresh fish and mariscos too.

There is a large aquarium near Oriente station in the Parque das Nacoes. It's well worth a visit.
The main market is near Cais do Sodre on the waterfront. There is a fish section but overall the market is not as big and interesting as many others I've visited, especially in Spain.
the Oceanario at Parque das Nacoes is really nice :) and they just got new animals this year! my nieces love it!
but also, the Aquario Vasco da Gama, in Caxias is pretty awesome! and i'm almost sure your son will enjoy it! ahain, the kids in my family love it! just as i did as a kid!
you can get to parque das nacoes on the metro. and to caxias on the train to cascais or by cab. or driving of course.
for fish markets you can try Mercado da Ribeira or try the market at whatever neighborhood you stay in lisbon.
enjoy it xx

thanks a lot, ritz for all the information; you'll have made lisboa a cherished destination for my son :)
Nazare has a large fish section in the public market. On a trip to Portugal several years ago we enjoyed a couple of days in Peniche, an important fishing town selling fish, mainly to fish merchants from other towns.
