I’m visiting the Douro valley at the start of October. Lots of websites say that there is good cycling and canoeing in the region but I haven’t been able to find details of anywhere which hires them. Does anyone know anywhere that does? I’m staying in Pinhão but wouldn’t mind travelling a bit to Régua or the Alvão national park.

Thanks!

The train trip from Pinhao to Pocinho is well worth it. You buy the tickets on the train. Don't plan to wander around Pocinho, there is not much there.

I do not know about canoes or bikes, but try the tourist info site. I have found them quite useful in the past.

Opps forgot to mention that we got the cheapest beers we have ever bought in Europe at the Train station at Pocinho, 0.70 euro a 330ml bottle, and they were icy cold.

Thanks. As far as I can tell most train trips in the region are spectacular!

No luck on the Visit Portugal site about bike hire, though, unfortunately.
