Hi, I'm going to fly into lisbon... And 11 days later fly out of Porto. I'm an active person, and love walking around and seeing lots. I love both the beach and architecture, so would like to mix up the trip with a little of everything.... Any advice on itinerary. Ill b on my own without car, and relying on trains, etc. also, I don't ride a bike.
Thanks!

Hi, near and in Lisbon there's a mixture of everything... Maybe you should based yourself in Lisbon and then take the train elsewhere and the metro\subway\bus in the city. You could visit Lisbon for some days and then take few trips.

I don't know how much you know about Lisbon, but as always, you should visit the very old historical center, the XVIII century downtown, and later other important areas of the city, like Belém, and probably Parque das Nações (brand new architecture).

There are also plenty of beaches in the region of Lisbon, one or other more crowded than others in July, of course.

If you like to walk and see architecture and beautiful landscape, then Sintra looks like a perfect place for you.

Now, about trains, there are 4 suburban lines in Lisbon: To go to Cascais and all their beaches in between, you take the Cascais line in Lisbon's Cais do Sodré train station. This one is one of the largest transport hubs in the city, so you can get there by subway.

To go to Sintra, you take another suburban line - the Sintra line! :) - take it Rossio's train station (Restauradores metro station is near).
