Planning to spend ten days in maindland portugal before going down to sao miguel for a week. What are some cities that I should go visit?

I am open to everything, site seeing, beaches, water sports, food wise, partying etc...

Thanks so much

Which month(s)? No-one is open to everything. Are you interested in remote stone villages reached on foot? Train travel on country lines? Places of interest in the Peninsular Wars? Do you enjoy stewed tripas with pigs' trotters and ears?

Hi,

The two big historic cities in Portugal are Lisbon and Porto.

Then, you have lots of interesting towns, such as Évora, Portalegre, Coimbra, Viana do Castelo, Ponte de Lima, plus a whole range of small towns in beautiful locations: Marvão, Aljezur, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Caminha, Pinhão...

Portugal is regionally diverse, so you could go for coastal, mountain, wine regions, areas rich in historic monuments.

This should give you some ideas: http://www.hideawayportugal.com/modules/home/home.php

Have fun!

This is a rather blank question, why not do a little bit of research first about some of the sights in Portugal and come back with a bit more specific question?
