Hey all

Looking for a budget friendly hotel/hostel in Amsterdam where smoking weed is allowed in the rooms. I know Flying Pig and Bulldog but they are all sold out for the dates i'm travelling.

It has to have private twin rooms, but otherwise i'm pretty open to anything.

What can you suggest?

Hello LP,

My brother and I will be in the Netherlands for a week or two at the end of April and we wanted to make a 2-3 day stop in Liege to visit some relatives. My question is, what is the fastest/cheapest way to get from Amsterdam (or Almere, which is where we're staying most of the time) to Liege. We were initially planning to travel to Liege on April 30th, and return to the Netherlands early on May 2nd, but we were told that it's next to impossible (very expensive and crowded) to travel on…

Hi guys,

New to the forum! I have two questions about my upcoming trip.

1.
I am travelling from Toronto to Nairobi with a stop at Amsterdam. The thing is, the stop is 8 hours and 50 min. I am actually thinking of using the 8+ hours to go to Amsterdam to visit the city. But I don't know where to go or how to get to the places. Any recommendations? Oh, and the stop is during the day (12 - 8) so I guess there is no point going to the Red Light District?

2.
For the return flight, I have a transfer…

Amsterdam Cards

My husband and I will be in Amsterdam for 3 days at the end of June. I have been researching the different cards you can buy to gain access to museums, attractions and public transport. The three main cards seem to be Stadspas, Museumkaart or Holland Pass. We are definitely interested in art galleries and museums but interested also to see other attractions (canal tour) ice bar etc. I thought perhaps the Holland Card might be best for us but I was a little confused about the different symbols…

Hi Guys,

More an informative post than a question.
I commute everyday to my work in the centre of amsterdam. Each day I see tourists struggle on their rental bikes because they either havent biked before or are not used to the dutcj traffic rules.

In some occasions this have resulted in trauma.

Iaheva created a funny but very helpfull post on how to survive in amsterdam on a bicycle . Hopefully it can help you if you are interested in ever coming to amsterdam and rent a bike:

I am in Amsterdam for the entirety of April and May, and am looking for ways to meet people. I'm interested in taking classes related to photography, design and/or fashion as well as playing sports. Any suggestions on resources I should take a look at?

Hey everyone! I have two months free (April & May) and am thinking of moving to Amsterdam for this time (starting April 4th). I work from home so I can be flexible enough in where I live.
I was wondering if it is straightforward enough to rent for these months considering how it's not quite summer yet? Can I find a furnished 1 bedroom apartment or a studio for this time easily enough? Which websites should I check out to do this?
Obviously I'd like to be close to a central location, or within…

I'm going to europe for 30 days and I need to buy a new camera. Amsterdam is my first stop, so I'm thinking on buying it there.

Canon T2i (with 18-55mm IS lens), for example, costs around 1600 us dollars here in Brazil, and something around 900 in the UK. Anything around this is already economy for me.

Can I expect prices similar to the UK when buying cameras and electronics?

Thanks!
