Is there an extra charge above and beyond the taxi fare for luggage? If so, how much?
Thinking of visiting Amsterdam at Christmas time......is there anything going on during Christmas and the surrounding days? Will anything be open on Christmas day? Just wondering if it will be shuttered or things will be happening for tourists? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
My husband is going to Amsterdam on a business trip just before Queen's day and he thought it would be a good time to stay till the weekend and enjoy the Queen's day celebrations. I asked if I could tag along and at first he said fine. But now he is starting to worry that maybe it is not a good idea while I am 5 months pregnant. He argues that there are so many people in the centre that I might be jostled and accidentally thrown down or hit in the tummy. Also he says all the walking might…
hi a few questions, all hostels are overpriced or already fully booked in Amsterdam for them dates
So instead we are going to get some lodgings in Utrecht, is that too far? maybe Zaanstad? are there towns or cities closer were we might be able to find somewhere to stay, if so what cities? ideally somewhere with good rail services into Amsterdam if Utrecht is too far?
A note on Supperclub in Amsterdam. If you would like to spend your evening with other tourists at the same time as you are ripped off this is the place to go. Food is not bad, but for the 70 euro you would also expect nice staff who do not by "mistake" add 30 euro to your bill. We would not recommend you going here, there are plenty of other nice restaurants in Amsterdam where you can spend your money. The entertainment that we had looked forward to took place for about 5 minutes. I think the…

We are planning a 9 days trip to the Netherlands with our kids (4.5 and 2).
We will stay one night near Amsterdam and 8 nights in a park west of Apeldoorn.
Besides the well known attractions we are planning to visit, we thought about a nice half a day hike in the nature. It need to be suitable for our 4.5 year old (maximum 4 km.) and not too far from our sleeping place (maximum 2 hours driving time).
Any recommendations?
Hi all
We will be visiting the Netherlands for 9 days: 17-26/4. It means we will be there in Good Friday and Easter.
We are wondering how will it affect our trip: is there a vacation from work places or schools (meaning more people on the roads and in tourist attractions)? Are places open as usual?
Thanks in advance :-)
I've been to Amsterdam before, but I'll be vising again mid to late May. I'm wondering if there are any recommendations on what to do at night and even during the day. I did a lot of the "tourist" stuff before and this time I want to experience the more social side. So, any feedback on what a 30+ male can do and where he should go in order to meet others his age, tourists and local? I'm not a big club guy, but I want to experience the nightlife. I'm also not in University, so I'm not looking…
