Hi everyone.

I need a place to crash in Amsterdam for a minimum of 2 weeks (14 days), or more. I of course do not want to stay at a hotel for this long, because it will be ridiculously expensive.

Actually, I'm looking to do a working holiday in the Netherlands, so I will eventually need to look for an apartment/ sublet, but now I just need a safe place to store my belongings for about 2 weeks.

Trying to find "short term" stays using Google is really frustrating - the places that come up are way out of my budget. Does anyone here have any recommendations? I was thinking maybe of staying outside of Amsterdam... but I have no idea where. Just as long as I can be in Central station within 20-25 minutes is fine with me.

Thank you!

I found this thread as a quick update: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=1915388

Well, I don't want to be paying $90/ night for example for 14 days. Does it really matter? I just don't want to pay hotel prices that's all.

yes, of course it does matter. If your budget is EUR 10 a night, I'd say- forget it.

it also helps if you state what currency that $ represents. Hong Kong dollars? Australian $? please provide a budget in euros, as that's what you'll be paying in. think your cheapest option is 2 weeks in a youth hostel dorm- should cost EUR 25 a night or so.

#5, You have lost me with your Schengen-story. Holland (I think you mean the Netherlands) is part of Schengen. So 45 days Schengen, 45 day Holland (=the Netherlands), 45 days Schengen, 45 days Holland, does not make sense. I think you mean: 45 days in the Netherlands, 45 days outside of Schengen (f.e. UK or Ireland), 45 days in the Netherlands, 45 days outside of Schengen.

Liberat is right about Schengen - but since OP wrote I'm looking to do a working holiday in the Netherlands Schengen wouldn't be relevant in the first place, as s/he'd be here on a working holiday visa.

Aribo, you are right of course, but I thought it made sense to correct what was written by #5. Someone might get the wrong impression.
