Hi All--

I'm a 21 year old female student and I will be traveling to Amsterdam alone (first time) for 4 nights at the end of July, as part of a 6 week trip around Europe. I'd like to stay under 40€ a night for accommodation when possible. For the first two nights of my stay, I am staying at Flying Pig Downtown, but I'd like to stay somewhere a bit more chilled out for the last two nights. I was looking at some places on the beach but I want to make sure it is worth it to go outside of the city. I do enjoy partying, and I want to have that experience, but I think I might be looking to take it easy for a few days-- which is why I didn't book 4 straight nights at FP Downtown to begin with. Anybody have a recommendation for a safe, clean hostel or other that's a bit more relaxed? I am camping-inclined and would be willing to go a bit out of the way to stay somewhere I could enjoy a bonfire. (Will have sleeping bag, but no tent!)

Recommendations much appreciated! Will be booking in the next few days because the dates are fast approaching :)

Thanks,
Erin

In Amsterdam there's Camping Zeeburg which has little wagonettes and cabins.

Other hostels in Amsterdam that seem more chilled are called StayOkay but might be fully booked for the end of July.

Obviously there are plenty of campsites all over the country and you could buy a very cheap tent in Amsterdam and maybe give / sell it to another traveller when you leave. I'm not en expert on campsites and how to find nice ones though. I'm sure the internet has review websites for them, or websites that allow you to do advanced searches i.e. younger / older people, party / quiet, bonfires allowed, etc.
