How can I get to brugge from amsterdam, is there train directly?
thank you
There are several options.
Eather you take the more expensive Thalys and change to an IC in Brussels Midi, duration 3:09
You have to pre-book.
Or you take the cheaper IC trains and change in Antwerp (and eventually in Ghent as well), duration 3:32 to 3:49
No advance purchase is needed.
See link above.

I've travelled quite a bit in that part of the world. My recommendation is to get the train from Amsterdam to Antwerp. From Antwerp, you should be able to get a train to Brugge. Failing that, go from Amsterdam to Brussels Central, then go to Brugge.

According to the timetable at [www.ns-hispeed.nl] you change trains either at Antwerp (or Antwerp and+ Gent St Pieters) or at Bruxelles +Midi (a.k.a. Brussel Zuid), which is not the same as Brussels Central.
Senaysen, I got your PM and just sent you a reply. Since this may be useful to others as well, I'll post my reply here as well:
For Amsterdam-Bruges, you may be better off checking the Dutch international railway site: [http://www.nshispeed.nl/en]. This website should be self-explanatory - choose from "Amsterdam Centraal" (unless you're staying closer to another station in Amsterdam, of course) to "Brugge".
Whether or not you need to reserve in advance depends on which type of train you take from Amsterdam to Brussels:
1. Thalys high-speed trains HAVE TO be reserved in advance; discounts for advance purchase are often available, although these tickets have restrictions (e.g. the ticket is only valid for one specific train departure). It's best to reserve tickets a few days in advance to ensure a seat on the train of your choice.
2. InterCity trains take longer but are cheaper than non-discounted tickets on Thalys; you do not (and can not) reserve these trains in advance. This also means you do not get a confirmed seat, and during rush hour this may mean you have to stand for part of the journey (not very likely, by the way).
Brussels-Bruges cannot be reserved in advance.
You basically have two options:
1. Purchase your tickets online - recommended when you prefer to take Thalys from Amsterdam
2. Purchase your tickets at the international train ticket office at Amsterdam Centraal, or at Schiphol Airport after your flight arrives, if that's more convenient. You can, in principle, but InterCity trains right up to the departure time of your train, but lines at international ticket offices can be long and bookings take time.
Bruges-Paris
English version of the Belgian Railways website: [http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/]
Click "international", then choose from "Brugge" to "Paris Nord". Brugge-Brussels trains cannot be reserved in advance, from Brussels you have to take Thalys, which HAS TO be reserved - see above. Again, since you seem to know already when you want to travel, it's best to buy your tickets in advance as you may get a substantial discount. Otherwise, you can probably book your Brugge-Paris Nord ticket already at Amsterdam Centraal or otherwise at Brugge.
Got the same PM and have nothing to add to what Aribo wrote.
If you take the IC via Antwerp, you could admire a beautiful train station
