Yesterday there was a massive police-action (200 cops involved) and five people were arrested probably linked to a 'drugs' murder some weeks ago. In the almost border town Eindhoven

And there are still people who claim that legalisation of drugs leads to less criminality. But because of the 'liberal' legislation in the Netherlands many drugs gangs set up their EU headquarters in the Netherlands and as a result drugs wars are going on.

To all those opposed to complete legalisation of Marijuana in the same way as alcohol, how many gang wars are being waged by the breweries?

As i understand it growing and distribution haven't been legalised in Holland. While it remains illegal there will always be some criminals who will fight for the trade.

An anology...A bit like legalising selling alcohol in shops, but having it illegal to make beer/wine/spirits or distibute to the shops who are permtited to sell it. The same thing would happen, criminals would fight over the creation and distribution of alcohol.

It even happens whilst it is legal. Look at the illegal alcohol production, smuggling because of high taxes in some countries etc.

NICE! - You just proved the point against yourself.

Emphasis on the words "illegal alcohol production".

Funnily enough it is not Jim Beam doing a drive by shooting on Jack Daniels!

#33 I proved my point by saying legalising doesn't stop criminality

So how will prohibition help?

Not only prohibition but also much tougher rules need to be in place and enforced. A heroin or coke smuggler who arrives with up to 1 kg at Schiphol airport is send home on the next flight. In some countries your head would be cut off. So you just make sure you carry less then a kilo and the worst that can happen is that you're send back to your origin with a refused stamp in your passport.
Because of the lack of enforcement in the Netherlands it became a hub for the international maffia and smugglers from which they can smuggle their stuff into any Schengen country without too many problems.

Drug tourism and related crime should stop
The number of addictions should drop and with that a huge number of other problems

Snigger!

Drug trade is run by maffias because it's illegal, otherwise it would be run by multinational corporations.

I don't think you understand supply and demand.

The point you don't get greyhound is the fact that drugs destroy lives and families. By sniggering about it you only show you rignorance

"ot only prohibition but also much tougher rules need to be in place and enforced"

tough rules, death penalty and all that stuff occurs in a lot of countries and in many of them they are producing most of the heroin in the world. It is simple ridiculous. We are always talking about freedom and democracy but you get jailed because you smoke a bit. If you want to protect the population, generally speaken, from negative aspects of certain things, at first place you have to forbid arms (I know that this is impossible), alcohol, cigarrettes, a lot of food etc. etc.
If we talk about freedom and democracy it is our personal choice
