Hi folks - I've got five days to spend in Italy (Thursday 14th - Monday 18th September), and I need to start and finish in Florence. I was thinking of hiring a scooter and exploring Tuscany, but having never been there before I don't know if this is feasible, a good idea, etc. Will be travelling by myself, no need for fancy accommodation, but good food and wine would be desirable! Any suggestions for where to go, what's feasible in such a short time etc? Any suggestions for where I might hire a…

Hey, everyone...

So I'm guessing that this is an obnoxiously broad question, but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a hostel in Rome that is super-cheap (I'm aiming for under $25 US dollars a night...) yet reasonably pleasant, clean, and FUN! I'd like to be a central location (ie, close to cafes, shops, transportation, fun things to check out) & would appreciate some feeling of safety...I'm traveling with my younger brother, but I'm a 23-year-old female, and this will be my first trip through…

I'm going to be getting married in Italy in mid-October after which my future bride and I will be traveling (with her family) for about a week. We're coming from aouthern Tuscany and I wanted to head for Cinque Terre and then move on possibly to the lakes.

Can anyone advise me on number of days recommended in Cinque Terre? I think we're driving there and am also wondering if a car is going to be a real pain (assuming we are just using it to get there, not drive around there).

I'd also love…

My mom is visiting Naples in the Fall and was planning on a side trip to Nola to research family ancestory. Can anyone tell me what it is like, areas of interest to visit, etc. Also, what would be the easiest mode of transportation to get to Nola from Naples - taxi, rental car, train?? Thanks in advance!

Flying into Sicily (Catania) late June to stay in Hostels...any ideas? we are two travelers on a budget!

Hoping to do some good hiking as well, if you happen to know any good trails.

and all this talk about the mafia has made me nervous. Is it something a traveler should be anxious about?

THANKS!

This will be a challenge but I need to find reasonably priced accommodation for up to 36 people, sleeping in singles, twins and possibly 3 bedded rooms in Venice next May. I have emailed a couple of hotels mentioned on this forum, and await replies. Any other ideas or recommendations please?

BTW, This is not a commercial venture!

My boyfriend and I are visiting Sicily in early July and would like to find accommodation relatively near a beach (we have rented a car so a bit of a drive is OK, not ideal, but OK) we are hoping to find somewhere in a small village, outside the city life and near more remote, peaceful less touristy beaches. We would like to stay in the sout/eastern part perhaps near vindicari, but are open to suggestions. We need to find somewhere on a tight budget (if its possible this time of year!) we are…

Myself and my boyfriend are going to Pisa for a long weekend on friday. He has a meeting there, so we need to stay in Pisa (I've been before so am aware that there isn't that much to do). We are planning day trips to Lucca and Florence but will be in Pisa in the evenings. I would appreciate any recommendations you have for bars and restaurants in Pisa.

Many thanks

I’ve posted this before but thought it can’t hurt to do again…

& thanx to all that helped me before I went!

We stayed at Marta Guest House it was ok, except a bit noisy it was a good place to stay.

Be careful when booking, I had heard a lot about people showing up at the hotel & they have no booking. We were orginally going to stay at the AntiquaRoma but as you can see by my review it didn't happen.

Rome is the only place where I have ever recommended that you use the “hop-on-hop-off” busses…
