I'm hoping to travel to Bivona, Sicily, soon, which is the town where my family is from. It's in the southwest of Sicily, in the province of Agrigento. I have been searching online to try to learn a little bit more about Bivona but I cannot find a single hotel online and very little information in guidebooks. Has anyone ever been to Bivona or can you suggest a way I might find out more about it? Or can someone suggest a nearby town that would be a good base for travel in that region?
Thanks…
Thanks everybody who replied to my previous post in planning our trip. I have 2 quick questions
1) Anybody recommend a decent B & B near the train station in Rome for a 1 night stay ?- I didn't want to spend more then $100Euro for the night but safety is a concern.
2) Is a big difference between taking the 1st and 2nd class train from Rome and Venice ?

I will be in Florence on my birthday (15th Sept) and want to plan something along the lines of a wine tasting trip and see a bit of the countryside.( I'll be relying on public transport etc as I won't be hiring a car.) I'm gutted that I will have missed the wine tasting festival in Greve the week before as this would have been a perfect saturday afternoon for me!
Has anyone been on a tour with florence.city-discovery.com? I am not sure whether to wait until I am in Florence to see what's going on…
OK, change of plans... my husband and I are now thinking about renting a car for 3 days and camping in a different place each night.. We want to start from Milan and drive someone, camp and then head out the next day to another location..... and all this with an 18 month old. :)
So any campers out there that can recommend some good places? We'd be up for going almost anywhere in the northern or western part of Italy... not east coast and not south. We don't want to spend all day in the car, but…
We will be visiting Italy for the first time in July. Our flight arrives and leaves out of rome .. aside from rome, we would like to visit venice and florence. What would be the logical sequence of visiting these cities? We would like to start out with 4 days in rome, then take the train? to venice, stay there for 4 days then another 4 days in florence? then straight back to the airport in rome?
We definitely want to stay 4 days in rome, but is 4 days in venice too long a stay? how about…

We are going to Alghero for 3 days on Sunday and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of fun things to do or places to go. Particularly on any lively restaurants in Alghero, or any stunning horse riding or bike riding trips? Or watersports. We won't have a car but we can get taxis to places.
Thanks!
Hello! My husband, 18 month old and I are traveling to Milan (from Berlin) on June 22 for 3 days. We are looking for a place to stay preferably outside of Milan (maybe the first night in Milan and then we will head out from there). We want to really get a taste of the Italian countryside and culture outside the city. We could go north to the Lakes or south somewhere else. Any suggestions??? We are wanting to do this as inexpensively as possible. We'd love to find a farmhouse or vacation rental…
Hello,
We are flying into Alghero in a couple of days late at night- 9.00pm. We are looking for clean, cheap place to sleep e.g backpackers, homestay..anything. Does anyone know of a place within 20-30km of the airport even if it's in the middle of nowhere!
Any recommendations welcome. We just want to book the first night because we get in so late.
Thanks,
Lauren
Thank you to everyone who replied to my post about booking train tickets from Milan to Naples. My wife and I have got our couchettes reserved and are anot planning the next steps of our trip.
We arrive around 10 AM in Naples and plan to grab lunch near the train station and walk around town through the mid-to-late afternoon. We then plan to go to Sorrento where we will stay a few nights as a base for visiting Amalfi and Pompeii (and maybe Capri).
Any recommendations on the best way to get to…
