Does anybody know a Cafe or Restaurant in the centre of Venice (between P.S. Marco and Rialto) that has free wireless internet? I ran around like crazy and coulnd't find a place (there's no Starbucks in Venice either).
Thanks in advance

Rialtonet near the Rialto fish market. San Palo 278. North side of Rialto. UNLESS it has closed.

By the way not having a Starbucks there is a VERY GOOD thing. UR in another country. Drink their wonderful coffee which kicks Starbuck's butt any day and learn to live offline for a few days. The withdrawl is shocklingly painless. Be a traveler not a tourist.

Starbucks in Venice... god, it's enough to start making home-made bombs :-)

As I know,

Free-internet has been forcibly stopped by law.

Anyone who is willing to offer internet connection has to require and check a user id (i.e. EU driving license or ID or Passport) and register where the user is surfing/watching etc.

This was a counter-terrorism measure that forced 99% of hotels, internet cafes and cafes to suspend their Internet offer due to the complexity of enforcing such law.

Nevertheless, I'm sure you can spot many open connections or with a bit of ability you may crack easily some low-protected networks.
