Hi,
Do you think it would be possible, using car, coach or train, to leave Siena around 10 a.m. and make it to Milan-Litane by/before 14.50?
The flight we want to take to London leaves at 16.50.
We would have to return/check in a hired car somewhere between 10 and 14.50.
The last thing we want to do is cut it too close.
If you think we can do this, would you recommend coach, train or a combination?
Thank you very much for your advice in this one (it seems like everything would have to come just right to make this work, but maybe there's enough time for some slippage. ??
Best regards,

If you took the 9:18 train from Siena you would arrive in Milan at 2p. I would drop the car in Siena or Florence and train to Milano. Remove the risk of getting lost when you have to be somewhere at a set time. Trenitalia has train schedules & fares. If you're at all worried about time stay in Milan the night before. Check out the Last Supper and Duomo before heading to the airport.
Assuming you prefer to return the car in Siena, there is a bus at 7.15 that arrives in Milan at 11.45. From the bus terminal (Lampugnano) to Linate it will be about an hour ('red' subway line to San Babila, hence #73 bus).
By train it would be between 4 and 5 hours (see www.trenitalia.com)<BR>Otherwise, accordin to www.viamichelin.com (and myu personal experience), driving time would be about 4 hours straight to the airport (you wouldn't drive into Milan at all, but of course traffic can be quite hectic).
