Should we stay in Taormina or just along the coast? We have a hire car so would need parking.

I wouldn't recommend staying in Taormina if you have a car. From what I saw there is hardly any parking and the parking is also very expensive. We rented a little apt in the town of Giardini-Naxos and found this was a good base to explore Taormina. There is a pretty good bus service to Taormina and you can admire the view on the way whilst someone else does the driving! There are better alternatives close by if you have a car.

Hello pompom, I am in agreement with "GoldCrest" ; If you have a car is better to stay in Giardini-Naxos or other place along the coast. Have a nice stay Giancarlo ( italyinexpensively.com)
