If you are going for Cefalu town try to get as near the old centre and the sea as possible. That's the flat bit (easier with baby ;-)There are hills behind the town centre...

I know a lot of sites in Italian;not many in English. But if you need any specifics let me know! I live in Palermo and know the area pretty well. But I don't stay in hotels when I go to Cefalu,obviously...

Cheers thanks for that

I was looking at this hotel Hotel Santa Lucia e le Sabbie d'Oro http://lesabbiedoro.it/ mixed reviews. We just want something with a pool and may be a bar area to relax with drinks later. Hard to decide what's good and what's not etc. and I am just organising it but I wont have the final say that's with Mother :-)

So we can fly direct to Palermo from Ireland and Sicily is a place we both would like as both love Italy(not to long back from Florence) and none of us have been to southern Italy and we want for us to enjoy ourself but our main priority is that Junior is as little perturbed as possible

October wont be to hot for all of us and trying to keep to a budget and with flights & hotel coming in at over a thousand and not sure if cheaper to go to the Canaries or Balearics but we have been there already.

Still going to keep on looking and see if I can see find any hidden Gem hotels in the area

Also looking at some here http://villa-cerniglia.cefalu.hotels-sicily.net/?from=2018-10-10&to=2018-10-17&adults=2&children=1&childAge1=0&_1526997708483&currency=3#rooms

Thanks for all your assistance and help much appreciated

Ok,you're welcome...

I know where the hotel is,though never stayed there...its about 2-3 kilometres from the old centre, but a nice enough walk mostly along the seafront.

Cheers

As we are staying a week I did not want to rent a car and also with baby on board need to check re baby seat etc. However not so sure now as I want to see a bit of the island. I take it we can do day trips from Cefalu as don't want to sit down all day by the pool would like to see other parts while we are there.

The hotel getting mixed reviews over on Trip Advisor but I do take some of them with a pinch of salt as long as its clean and has a pool we are ok. Is it near the train station so we can easily get back to the airport in Palermo ?

Train station is in the centre,so again..maybe 3km or so.

Cefalu is ok for day trips, but public transport is not great.Train to Palermo and train down the coast in the other direction are fine.

Going inland(to the Madonie mountains for example)there are very occasional buses, but better to take a tour, taxi or hire car for a day.

Thanks

Looking at another hotel https://www.touristhotel.it/ looks a bit better. That good location wise?

Got quotes of between €90-€100 for transport to hotel which is a lot. Is it much hassle to get bus to train station in Palermo and then train to Cefalu? flight lands in the morning so we can take our time if need be and we baby on board we more than likely will

Yes.a bit nearer to the centre than the other one...easy enough walk along the seafront.

Public transport from the airport is easy enough.Bus to Palermo station from the airport leaves every half hour, takes about 40 minutes.

Then you can take a direct train to Cefalu from the station, takes about 50 minutes or so.Plenty of trains.

What's it like driving in Sicily just if we consider the option of hiring a car? Also the Weather in Oct. We are not sun worshippers and junior will be on factor 50 but just want it to be warm enough to sit by the pool or beach

On the motorways, fine.Even in the countryside not too bad, though you need to be careful.

I wouldn't try and drive into and out of major cities, unless you are a VERY confident driver.

Weather is changeable in October. With luck, around 20°and sunny. But it's not always like that!

Ok finally booked flights in mid October so hopefully the weather will remain warm but not to warm

Was looking at the Hotel Kalura. Its a bit away from the town 30 minutes walk?? But it does look nice for a family. If we where to go into town with Junior do many taxi services offer baby car seats as if out in the town need to bring Junior back in taxi if at night time ? Or if we could pre order taxi to collect otherwise we would need to bring the car seat along with the stroller.

Was looking at the walk into town so seems hilly but cannot really tell. The tourist hotel does look more convenient but the Kalura does offer more ala at a more expensive price.....but your only young once or so they say.

We don't really want to hire a car as we want to chill as much as we can but not in the hotel all the time so its weighing up the options
