Hello,
Looking for some advice regarding our time in Sicily in late September. We are two friends in our 40s, who enjoy seaside villages, town piazzas, the occasional historic sight, and good food & wine. The Sicily leg comes after 7 nights in the one spot in Tuscany.
I was hoping to avoid hiring a car, but our diverse interests see us from one side of the island to the other. My friend also has some mobility issues at the moment, and I think that a bus/train route could be challenging. My first cut at the 8 day plan looks like this:
Day 1. Arrive in Palermo airport mid-afternoon. Collect car, stay on outskirts of Palermo, head into town by bus for dinner and a wander around.
Day 2 - Travel to Cefalu (my friend's pick). 2 nights, including downtime, walking & beach.
Day 4 - early start across to Arigento. Explore the Valley of the Temples.
Day 5 - Arigento to Ragusa. Relaxed drive, perhaps by beachside tavern for lunch. (suggestions?)
Day 6 - Day 9 Travel to Noto and use it as a base (3N). Explore Syracuse, countryside around Noto.
Day 9 - morning transfer to CTA airport and drop off car.
My preference would be to stay in smaller properties in the surrounding countryside/ villages to those listed above, to avoid overnight parking hassles.
Any advice? Too much? Alternative suggestions?
Many thanks in advance!
