Hey all,

I am leaving for Italy with my boyfriend in early July. We go to Rome for a few days, Florence or a few days, then head to a place about an hour outside of Turin for a wedding. We then have about a week before we head to Amsterdam to see family. We would love to be off the beaten path, but don't have enough money to rent a car. Not so interested in crowded areas. We are also thinking of heading to Switzerland for a few days along the way. I feel so discombobulated in the planning. Please help! I would love suggestions or ideas.

Thank you so much.

Happy travels to all!

First, get a guidebook.

I think Val d'Aosta could be good for you, if you like mountain walking.

Another option (not necessarily cheap, but certainly interesting if you have never seen these places) would be a train journey from turin to amsterdam stopping in cities like lyon, paris, lille, brussels, antwerp

You can get lodging fairly cheaply in the Cinque Terre area in Liguria. You might have to arrange it after you get there, though.
