We are planning a trip starting in Milan and going from Courmayeur, Italy, OVER the Alps to Chamonix, France, then heading south into France from there. Have you done this? I'd like to plan the gondola portion, want to be sure about the connections and whether I can buy the tickets in advance to get the whole way over the mountains (one way). If you have advice, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

I haven't taken the journey across from one country to the other, but I know that you can't buy a single ticket for the entire trip as there are two different companies involved. I recommend that you start your trip early to avoid the crowds, among other reasons.

As above. I have taken the brand new Skywalk cable car and then skied down to Chamonix last March.

I think it's possible to book the tickets separately though.

I suppose you will not have too much and too heavy luggage for your gondola ride.
