He's been talking about his Halloween costume all year, so I won't be able to skate by without doing it at some point. Worst case scenario, we'll do our Halloween when we get home.

I'm semi-fluent and we've enrolled him in classes before the trip, so we'll see. He's not as interested in "trick or treat" as he is in the costume aspect though, so we're not as worried about trick or treating.

Thanks for chiming in, everyone! I always opt for cultural immersion when I travel, but this is the first time I'm taking my son abroad so I don't want to deprive him of Halloween. After all, it will only be about 3 hours out of 30 days we'll be in Italy.

I asked this on another forum and received a list of neighborhoods in various cities that do have Halloween activities for young kids (some with trick or treating), so between that and the suggestions here, I think we'll be okay.
