Hi all,
I can't seem to find any info on "after hours" transportation from the Fusina terminal to Venice.
The ANEK ferry is supposed arrive Fusina around 2 am and obviously we want to get to Venice ASAP.
Is there anything besides taxis???
Thanks a lot.

Checking on https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Fusina-Termica/Venice - it seems the last ferry is at 8:00 pm, and the last bus is 8:30 pm, both starting again around 8:00 am the next day (random date of 15-16 May). Perhaps you might be able to share a taxi with one or more of your fellow passengers.

What's your priority: getting to Venice proper, not spending a bundle of money or getting some sleep shortly after arrival?

It sounds like you've already made the decision to arrive near Venice hours before most public transport runs (though there is the infrequent "N" vaporetto line). The other decisions you have or haven't already made--that we don't know yet (do you already have a hotel booked in Venice for your arrival morning?)--will probably determine your best course of action from there.

If you'd like advice on that, please provide more info on what you plan to do upon arrival. At that time, my priority would probably be getting some sleep and I'd take a taxi to a hotel in either Mestre or Piazzale Roma.

Where did you find a ANEK ferry that arrives at Fusina at 2am?
AFAIK all ANEK ferries from Patras - Igoumenitsa arrive at Fusina between 7 and 8 am.
Or do you mean MINOAN LINES?
Anyway: you will have to phone for a taxi which will bring you to your hotel at Mestre or Piazzale Roma.

Because of your arrival time, simply getting to Piazzale Roma or Mestre doesn't resolve your transport issues. Unless your hotel is in or near one of those places.

So please be a good sport and tell us what the next step is. I don't think you can avoid a taxi ride from the ferry dock. But transport after that from Piazzale Roma can cost another 50-100 euro (water taxi), 7.50 euro apiece (vaporetto) or nothing. Or 1.50 euro apiece from Mestre train station--once trains begin running.

Of course, once in Venice proper, you can walk anywhere. And if you pack lightly enough, walking to your hotel from Piazzale Roma might make sense, wherever it is in Venice. That's also assuming you have a hotel somewhere in Venice. And that you navigate the city's streets and bridges well at night on foot with luggage--an unlikely combo.

The worst options are probably:
--taking a very pricey water taxi from Piazzale Roma to your hotel deep in the heart of Venice once you've reached the piazzale by land taxi. If that's the plan, it's worth re-booking your first night/morning to somewhere a land taxi can take you--Mestre or Piazzale Roma (though maybe the night vaporetto from Piazzale Roma can get you somewhat close to your hotel).

--not getting a hotel at all, and sitting somewhere with your luggage (the ferry dock? Mestre train station? Piazzale Roma?) and waiting for the city to become operational at about 6am. This approach is unlikely to prepare you for an energetic day of sight-seeing.

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies.
My bad,we're coming with Minoan, not ANEK....
I didn't mention that we've been to Venice a few times, this would be just an atypical finish to a Greek holiday .(= next to nothing in the backpack) ...
We're flying out of Marco Polo airp. same day late afternoon,so no hotel for us,and actually looking forward to wonder thru the city at night, without any crowds & vaporetto N goes all night....

So, sounds like taxi is the only way to get from Fusina in the middle of the night..too bad,the ferry fits almost 3,000 people, was hoping for some form of public transportation (mind you some people drive onto the ferry)

Your chances of finding someone with a car, heading more or less to Venice, you would think would be pretty good.
