Hi,
I am in the early stages of planning a month long interrail trip for next August. (We are limited to August, being teachers and having school age children). I am thinking mainly of Italy at the moment (but am open to alternative suggestions. Our children will be 5 & 8 and as such we are not planning on a route that involves too much travel, maybe 5 destinations over a month. We would prefer to mainly avoid big cities (in terms of places to stay) and are happy to factor in the odd bus/taxi journey where necessary. Some ideas for destinations include the lakes, tuscany (maybe a farmhouse stay?), something on the coast near to cinque terre, maybe the amalfi coast, possibly a ferry across to Sardinia. In terms of trips to cities, Rome and Venice are a couple that we think the kids may enjoy for a day or two if it fitted in with other more family friendly destinations.
Any advice/suggestions about places to stay or the ease of getting to these areas via train would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Nicky
