Any ideas on the quickest/easiest / economic ways to get from Catania to Milazzo and then to catch a ferry to Lipari. I will need to make this journey (and the return) next month. I would hope to arrive in Lipari "not too late" in the day if poss. How long should the journeys take ? would they need to be booked in advance ? Many thanks for any input :-) Kind regards Paul

Catania to Milazzo train takes 2 hrs 20. No need to book the ticket. The boat takes 1 hour 15 and generally runs hourly. Probably no need to book that either.

Thank you so much for that information :-) Would you know if the train is direct or I would need to change ? Many thanks richiavo :-)
As above,if you want to do it by train change in Messina. You will need to take a local bus from Milazzo station to the port.
There are also some shuttle buses from Catania too, that include ferry tickets (as a package).Faster and maybe a bit easier but considerably more expensive as well...
Beware of Sundays, very few trains (and i'm not sure there is any local bus from the Milazzo train station).

Many thanks to all who have replied :-) . Willemspie - I take it your warning of the bus from the train station relates to Sundays ? I should be travelling on Thursdays so hopefully it won't be a problem :-) . Kind regards.
