Ciao a tutti!

I’d like to spend one month at a language school in Southern Italy this September. I think I’ve narrowed it down to three schools:

CLIC in Santa Domenica near Tropea (CALABRIA)
Scuola di Italiano in Nicotera (CALABRIA)
Solemar in Cefalu' (SICILIA)

This is my “ideal”:
A very good language school (for an advanced class – I’ll be doing a Master in Bologna in the fall)
A “beautiful” place
A great beach
A nice, small town – somewhere I can meet people (Italians, hopefully!), get a gelato, shop at the market, and so on.
Somewhere without much English
Nothing too expensive

Is anyone familiar with Santa Domenica (or Tropea)/Nicotera/Cefalu' (or any of these schools)? Can you tell me about these places? Do you recommend them? (Or – if you’ve studied at another school in Southern Italy and would really recommend it – I’d love to hear about that, too!) I've found photos of everywhere on the web, but I'd really love to hear about your first-hand experiences!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH – I really appreciate the help!

Leah

Tropea and Cefalu are both very nice, with good beaches. For me Tropea probably has the edge, esp for the beaches. Maybe Tropea is a bit more expensive tho (more fashionable)? I don't think you are likely to meet many Italians in either tho, really - September is after peak holiday season (tho of course the best time to go!), and both are tourist resorts and so not really places where locals talk to tourists much (apart from selling them stuff, of course!)

There will be more English tourists in Cefalu than in Tropea, for sure. Germans, maybe vice versa?
