Hello! I’m heading up to the Amalfi Coast areas in early June in a group of 5 and basing at Salerno. Will be there for 4D3N. We’re all students so budget a bit tight, but is still open to hearing all options :)

Understand that it’ll be high season so looking for places are are maybe hidden gems, or under the radar but is still worth the visit!

Looking for advice on:
1) Islands - Is Capri worth the visit? Or are there any other islands worth considering as well?

2) Ferry - would love to have a boat trip that will allow us a to swim as well. Should we look at private hires or just join any tour we see while we are there? And roughly how to do they cost?

3) Hikes - heard that path of gods will be really crowded. Is it still worth the visit? Or is there any other hikes with a great view as well? (But is not too difficult)

4) Beaches - Are there any pretty beaches that we could chill at, but not have to compete with the crowd for space?

These are all things you should have researched before locking into a visit in June.

No hidden gems, no uncrowded paths, no lidos where you will not be competing for space, and Capri is fine but it is expensive to get there and back.

Path of the gods is closed, whether it will reopen by June who knows. Staying in Salerno might give you cheaper accommodation but remember to cost in transport each day.

From Salerno you should consider visiting Paestum. A short train ride and a magical ancient Greek site.

Walk recommendation:
Ferry to Amalfi, bus up to Ravello, wander the gardens of Villa Cimbrone (admission fee), walk down to Atrani or Minori, enjoy the beach. Both have free areas as well as the paying chaise longues.

If wishing to throw money deliriously into the ocean, take ferry/ferries to Capri, get a speedboat to take you around the island and stop to swim wherever you like. I have deliberately blocked all memory of what we paid “Whales di Wendy” for this nonstop photo op experience. Would not have been able to afford this in my student years.
