Hi all,

Me and a few friends are thinking of going to Sardinia for a week in August. The goal is to rent a house on Airbnb by the sea and hang out by the beach and do some day trips.

Where is a good place to base yourself on the island that is not too touristy but close to some great places? It seems the southern coast is much less developed. Maybe somewhere around Chia?

Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for the advice!

May be you first look for available accommodation for August 2017 and come back in the case you should have found something.

I think Chia is a nice area with great beaches.

Sardinina is huge but August yeah as the other have mentioned will already be very booked up.

I would suggest you also consider all types of accommodation. Not only will it increase chances of finding what you need for the stay but also hotels can help with local ideas, route information and resolve any issues there and then.

Hi,
I spent 9 days in Sardiniia last October. I found that Cagliari is a excellent base for exploring southern coast and cities. Cagliari is the biggest city of Sardinia and well organized that you can stroll everywhere on foot. There are much more accommodation choice than other locations. You can take train from Cagliari airport to city center about 10 mins at 1 EURO. You can take bus to Pula and Chia for a day trip. The bus frequency is around 2 hourly at 3.5 EURO. Buying return ticket at Cagliari bus station is suggested, as it is cheaper and more convinient. The Pula beach is very charming with white sand, quite pure and soft . Maybe you can try to find a lodging in Pula spending several days there, if you are a beach-goer
