I'm traveling from Greece to Italy and would prefer to stay in the southern half instead of taking the train from Athens to Northern Greece over to Italy and train down to Sicily. Can anyone recommend a different transportation mode like a ferry from Athens area to Sicily? How about plane?

Hi, I'm travelling to Greece in early August with my girlfriend for 6 days 7 nights.
I'd like to try and fit in as much as possible in the short time that we're there.
I'd like to see the sights in Athens, mainly the Acropolis and the National Archaeological Museum. Aside from this I'd like to visit Delphi and Metora as well and if possible get a few days/nights in on Santorini or other similar island.
I'm totally clueless as to the logistics of all this... is it possible to do say, Athens in…

Hi to everyone,
My cousin and I are going to be in Athens for a night and we're wondering if anyone can recommend a hostel...we're looking for a young, outgoing party atmosphere that is close to the sites and isn't over 20 Euro.
Also, we'll be visiting Santorini and Mykonos and are just winging it when it comes to hostels there...does anyone have any warnings or advice on hostels to avoid on those islands? Or hostels we should seek out?

I'm planning on spending two weeks in Greece this year for my summer break. Although I've been many times before it's always been to Rhodes or Symi.

This year I'd like to spend a few days in Athens then take a ferry to one of the islands. Can you suggest somewhere relaxing, nice beaches some nightlife with some interesting places to visit.

Most of the tourist visiting Greece they will stay a couple of days in Athens Greece well is not such a great city but is worth seeing the Acropolis and Parthenon .The transport has improved with trams ,metro , buses and very cheap taxis so take a chance and visit some nice places in Athens.

My wife and I are planning a December trip to Athens (2-3 nights) and one of the Greek Islands (3-4 nights). I've been looking at Aegina for it's proximity to Athens and the Afala Temple. We're hoping for a quiet, relaxing island (nightlife not a priority) and can't find much information about any the islands in off season.

Is the ferry service significantly reduced in December?
What kind of weather should we expect?
Any recommendations for a clean, nice, moderately priced place to stay?

I love the island of Kos exept the night life in Kos I don't particular like that noisy and loud bar mile with all the pubs and bars where drunken tourists partyiing the whole night long .There are so many other interesting things to do in Kos instead of beeing drunk you can visit many archaeological sites or some interesting museumsmuseums in Kos or take a day trip to Kalymnos or Leros.
