What is the better way to travel from Athens to Kaambaka then to Thessaloniki in reagrd to duration and availablilty: train or bus?

my wife and I are travelling Europe at the moment. We are looking for advice on a cheap, but still getting a local feel of the place, resort on some of the greek islands. Does anyone have any recommendations for a 3-4 day place to stay near a beach that gives us a bit of relaxation from wandering Europe?

Hi all,

A friend is going to be in Athens for one day as a stopover (arrive at 9:00 am and depart that night at 1:00 am).

They are a party of 5: two parents and three children aged 8-13. Because they'll have been flying all night from JFK, they don't want to cope with the Metro to see the Acropolis and the Plaka.

Can anyone recommend a tour agency/ taxi company which would provide a reasonably priced day trip for them?

hi there, im staying on a boat moured in poros harbour at the beginning of december. i/we would like to stay in a nice hotel near by on the mainland for a night before returning to athens. does any one have any segestions where to stay and also what activities are there to do and see around the island/s or nearby mainland . thanks

I understand it will take a 5 hour drive to travel by car from Delphi to the Meteora. Are there any towns or villages along the way that would be a good overnight place so that we could drive part of the way, spend the night, and continue on to the monasteries the next morning?

has anyone been to paxis it is nearly the smallest of all the islands am thinking about travelling there next year and was wondering what is the best time to travel there and what there is to see and do

I am having difficulty with conflicting amounts of times listed for driving tours,
especially regarding the meteora. Am hoping to go from Delphi to Meteora, to Vergina, to Thessaloniki to catch the overnight train. Am renting a car. One source says it takes 3 hours from Delphi to Meteora, another says 5. How long does it really take???
With limited time, is it worthwhile to just drive through the monasteries (maybe visit 1), it looks like a lengthy detour?

Hi, I am going on a vacation with my family which includes 2 adults and 2 college kids who all have slightly different interests. Beautiful beaches, historical sights, and general sightseeing are all important. Basically I need to plan a trip that gives us a fairly well rounded view of Greece in one week. (impossible i know)

I have been doing my research but i really feel it will help if i can get some imput from people who have actually been there.

I've used train times from from www.ose.gr. Is that a reliable source of information? Are trains late on a regular basis or is an hour's margin between train generally sufficient time? Do trains get canceled frequently?

Is Greece an easy place to pick up vegetarian food on the go? I mean, suppose I have to catch a train at 6:30 in the morning, can I count on some shop selling sandwiches at say 6 am?

Hello again all. Probably a silly question, but worth asking;

If we go the cheap 'deck' class tickets, does that literally mean we are out in the elements? I normally wouldn't worry, but I haven't been to Greece before, much less in late October, and I wouldn't want to get rained on for a 6 hour ferry trip...
