Thanks for the replies to my previous question on the best season to stay in Crete. I have another question on the possibility of daytrip from Crete to Santorini during our stay in June. We are planning to stay around Chania area and hire a car. I've searched the ferry schedule and there is a ferry departing in the morning from Heraklion and returning back in the evening. So my plan is to drive a car from Chania to Heraklion early in the morning, catch a ferry to Santorini, spend 6 hours or so…

Here's the place I know I'll get quick (and opinionated!) answers for someone I'm giving recommendations to.
I'm advising a couple of women who have booked flights for a week in Chania Province Crete from Thursday April 15 through April 24. Their interests are not ancient sites or museums, but in enjoying the scenery, staying in small villages as well as Chania Old Town, biking and hiking as well as limited driving, enjoying folk art, authentic food/music etc. Here are my questions/concerns:

We are planning to spend about two weeks in Crete in May or June. My friends who have visited the Island in April said that it was too cold to swim at that time. I am wondering we can swim in the sea around May (I guess June is definitely possible.) One thing is that I am not a big fan of polar bear swimming and really hates swimming in the cold water. What will be the water temperature around the middle or end of May?
Another thing is about accommodation. We want to stay in a studio with a…
Hi all,
Years ago, I spent months on Crete, and still remember one special song that played 'everywhere all the time'. The main refrain was something like "Sagapo, makoos" which I think translated roughly as "I love you, can you hear me?" I've talked to others who were in other parts of Greece, even years later, and they also remember this song.
Can anyone tell me the exact title, and maybe even the who recorded the most popular version(s)?
thanks for any info!,

I saw there's a topic about a trip from Athen to Istanbul below,
actualy I'm planning to go the same course in 2 to 3 weeks,
the difference is the time.
I'm planning my trip in late March.
It is the shoulder season and ferries goes not often as summer.
So, I hope to find a route without wasting much time.
Any information about timetable, accommodation, place to see etc will be helpful.
P.S.
I think I'll enter Turkey from Fethiye or the area around Izmir.

Hi, we're building a house in the Peloponnese, and its time to start buying its first furniture!! We need to hire a transit size van at Athens airport, stop off at Ikea and then drive down. I'vebeen in touch with car rental companies who can't help. I'm sure someone here must know of a van rental company we can use, please help otherwise we're going to be sleeping on the floor!!
In June 2008 I'll be travelling the route Athens-Istanbul in 3 weeks.
What are the best places to visit? What places should I not visit?
Any good itineraties?
