could someone please let me know while traveling thru greece, croatia & venice should i join the ymca & become a member if planning to stay in hostels?

Not necessary, just show up at a hostel and ask for a room.

I never found it necessary to be a part of any type of association while traveling in Greece and Italy this summer. In fact, I haven't been a part of any "accomodation association" in over 12 years. I have yet to have a problem getting a place to rest for the night. Hope it's the same for you.
