Thanks again for all the very helpful post!

Uranos looks very nice, I think I'll try to get a room there. The Keros on Koufounisia looks superbe, but is a bit pricey with a 110 Euros a night. Or did I look up the wrong one? Would you have any other recommendations on Koufounisia?

The chateau looks also very nice, although it is a bit expensive. Despina's doesn't have website, does it? Any chance you know how much it is?

Any further recommendations are of course very welcome!

Another question: are there other boats going to Amorgos and the small cyclades beside the Scopelitis? And do I have to plan my arrival on Naxos one or two days before flying home? Or is the probability that the boats are not going out not so high?

Further I read a report about Donoussa. It shouldn't be hard to get to since the Scopelitis includes it in its route, right? Do you have any experience with that island? Especially in comparison to Koufounisia?

Best

Roger

no the Keros is the right one, didn't know it was that costly now, Koufounisia is a funny place, there are not many rooms, a great demand, and it's common practice to leave with the next boat if you can't find accommodation- try calling a few places, don't intend to go and stay if you don't have accommodation.

The Uranos is really wonderful - the couple who have it, came to Amorgos for a holiday and feel in love with it. They have a small restaurant on the premises with only a few dishes +classical music. I have stayed in expensive villas in Santorini with caldera views etc, this was the best view I have ever had- sea view from the bed - not much more one can ask for.It is easy to get woken up by the donkeys, the views are unobstructive, and you have the sunset in front of you- on the walking paths behind it you will find a small village, going about the daily routine, and a wonderful tavern with the local specialty - goat.
Anyway, a small kept secret, I tend to share too much.

Donoussa is the place to go when you want to get away from it all- I've only spent a day there - not much in taverns or choices in generally, but a few good sandy beaches, and generally very quiet.

#10 There are larger ferries that also go to Amorgos from Naxos. As of now, the Panagia Timou leaves Naxos at 11am on mondays and gets to Aegiali, via Donoussa, about 3 hours later. It stops at the other small islands on the way back.

Blue Star Paros runs to Astipalea from Naxos, stopping at Aegiali around 1am 3 times a week. It only stops at Donoussa when it heads back to Naxos (6-7 am departures).

These bigger boats would be more reliable than the Scopelitis if the wind kicks up, and only a major storm would keep the BS Paros from running.

Despina does not have a website. Doubles last week were 30 EUROs.
