Hi all
We will be visiting Sifnos for 10 days in late July/early August with our 2 kids aged 3 and 1 years. We like the idea of staying in Faros, hopefully a bit quieter and relaxed than bigger areas like Kamares or Appolonia.
But we would also like to be able to get around the island easily to visit other areas. Will Faros be a good option for this or will we find ourselves marooned with two screaming children during siesta time?! How easy is it to get around, and would Faros be a good base?
Also appreciate any advice on accommodation in Faros. We don't want anything fancy but are keen on a 2 bedroom apartment with some basic cooking facilities.
Thanks!
Jen

Hi!

I was in Sifnos two years ago and went to Faros' beaches a couple of times.
Although a lovely spot, unless you have your own means of transport you would have to rely on the bus service which is not ideal.
There are a couple of restaurants and a few self-catering options but after a while you may find it a bit "stifling", the buzz of Kamares in the evening is definitely more pleasant. Personally, I would choose a place with a little bit more scope, Kamares is lively and being the hub of the island very easy to travel to. By the way, the beach boasts crystal clear waters...

Cheers
A.

for other locations than Faros, try here at Platys Gialos.
You could also consider Chrissopigi [beach] if you want a quieter location.
For non-beach accommodation, consider Ano Petali, next to Appollonia. sifnos
