Does anyone have any info (rates, location, contact info, etc.) on hotels or rooms on Schinousa? I am looking for something in Hora, and would like to spend no more than 30 euro (less is always welcome). There are two of us, and we just need something clean and quiet - does not have to be fancy. We plan on going there around the 1st or 2nd week of May.

Use the filter system at www.booking.com to find affordable rooms on Schinousa. That, or talk to the locals who meet the boats when you arrive.
Just walk up the road from the port to Chora, it's not far (600m/yds). Chora has a number of Rooms for Rent places, it is very small so won't take long to see what is available on arrival, very early in season so that won't be a problem. I stayed in a place on the left side of Main St. You negotiate prices at the time.
In my experience no one meets ferries in Schinoussa. Booking.com is mainly rather isolated places, most places in Chora are not listed.
Chora is a good central choice as the beaches are all easily accessible by a shortish walk.
