Hi dianab1! Thank you.

Interesting to find that the discussion has gained in interest! I was going to say in my last posting that the 'spirit' or fresh enthusiasm at the beginning of the season (say June) might create a certain exuberance which would wane by October, when people know that the season is coming to an end. But the reports of high activity in Rhodes in October seemed to make that observation superfluous! I would imagine that reduction in daylight hours alone might bring about such a change in feeling. But everyone, including artemis2 was trying to address my concern with warm sea water and temperate weather on land!

With so many people from the cooler parts of the western world braving the heat in June, when Rhodes is also much greener - as artemis2 has helpfully observed - there is obviously a good reason to choose June.

The point (from Thrym at #11) about more hospitable weather in October on the mainland is well taken of course. In Athens during the last week of June this year, we gave up plans of travelling on the mainland and even reduced our day time outings within the city, partly because of the heat wave which was somewhat (but not entirely) exceptional this year.

Regards to you all

I was at Rhodes this June and it was around 25-30°C with a nice breeze and the water was around 19-22°C...

Nothing wrong with that in my opinion
