Same price. And have a nice trip. Think about Syros, the capital of the Cyclades. Ermoupolis is a real city, not a village. Good bookstore: Stathopoulos.

Meczko, I often fly into Athens around 0400, and there is plenty of time to get to Piraeus from the airport. Buses run 24/7 to the port, and take about an hour to get there.
Life is Hellas, I know you are right, but when I was at the airport in September I went to the metro stop to ask about the train direct to Piraeus (I had heard about it on TT). I asked at both the metro and suburban railway ticket windows, and was told there was none. Can you tell us more about it?
The Proastiakos direct service Airport > Neratziotissa > Athens > Piraeus ( 38 km ) was inaugurated on 5th June - very convenient and cheap, as I personally experience, and dropping you just opposite the ferries !
But strangely enough, these services have been discontinued ( permanently or temporarily ? ) recently, and you need to change at Neratziotissa ( on the same - and only - platform ). Trains Airport > Neratziotissa run every 20 mins, but Neratziotissa > Piraeus half hourly.
The www.proastiakos.gr website is only in Greek, but you can ask for information : info@proastiakos.com.gr. But - again : by own experience - be patient, and allow several days for receiving a reply...
Apart from this : I'm very enthousiastic about the service level, punctuality, cleanliness,... on Proastiakos !

Hopefully this link will show you the train routings valid from 23/7/2007 (the day I missed my usual train) when they extended the Korinthos link to Kiato. Up until then there was one train every 2 hours direct to the Airport from Korinthos and one on the odd hour via the Athens train.
Presently all trains from Korinthos go to Athens and onto Piraeus.
Trains start from the airport at 06:00 and run about every 10 minutes until the last train at 23:20 reaching Neratziotissa about 20 minutes later.
Change here for Athen (Pireaus) or Korinthos (Kiato) however I have got off to be told that the train I'm changing to is the one I was on!.
I don't know if there is a direct connection at Kiato for Patras as I generally get the train from the old station in Korinthos. This is what is happening today but things change without a great deal of warning and I have been told that direct trains should be starting again soon (?) and that the line to Loutaki is reopening in 2009.
Work is underway on the western Peloponese line (closed at the moment) and it is planned to continue the 'high speed' service on to Patras eventually.
Try http://www.proastiakos.gr/?tid=80&aid=0 or perhaps a little better if you can make out the German at http://de.geocities.com/km112266/ for routes and timetables.
The English link at www.proastiakos.gr is not working at the moment and a search of files linked to the site reveal both old and up-to-date routes and timetables, some as JPEGS and some as XLS files. Hope this helps.
