Dear Travelers,

has anybody of you been to the islands Paxos or Antipaxos close to Corfu? Are these islands really still unspoiled? We would like to go there in 2 weeks from now.
Thanks so much for your answer:-))

I have stayed on Paxos in Gaios. The main tourist resort.
It is subject to a lot of tourists mainly villa type punters, a lot of whom are regulars, with yachties thrown in to the mix, and a smattering of daytrippers from Corfu.

I arrived as a backpacker, from Parga, and there is very little accommodation for casual callers, they rely almost entirely on niche returning customers often renting 'villas', and yachties. That sets the atmosphere of the island. So it's definitely spoiled in a specific direction.

The niche customers who stay on Paxos would say it is unspoiled, they won't like my somewhat broader take on things.

Antiparos is basically a daytripper location, with some yachties. No village more a scattering of holiday homes.

If you have ever stayed on Symi, or Chalki in the Dodekanese islands you will get virtually the same sort of niche tourists.

Hello Ouzo,

thanks so much for your answer! This information is very useful. We will be in Corfu anyway, so I think we will rent a car and cruise around in Corfu itself!
Have a nice day:-))

We spent a few days in a hotel of Paxos, some 5 years ago. There were of course tourists in the first half of July (not lots of them, as the hotel capacity isn't big). But I don't think that the Island will be touristy in May.
Day trippers from Parga spend usually late morning and early afternoon at Antipaxos and come then to Paxos for 1 hr or 2, before leaving for Parga after 4pm.

Most of the Greek islands have maintained its traditional unspoilt atmosphere especially if you compare them to other holiday destinations in Europe... which is the reason why we have fallen in love with the islands and keep coming back every summer.

We did the boat trip from Corfu to Paxos/Antipaxos... not sure if the boat trips are going end of May as it is still early but you can for sure hire a private boat. If you are coming from (touristy) Corfu, then both islands will for sure be unspoilt in comparison.

The Igoumenitsa - Paxi ferry runs all year round.
