This surely must be a troll, but I will answer anyway. Your bio says you are an Aussie. Sydney has the Mardi Gras, so does that mean all Sydneysiders are gay? Of course not

There is a big difference between Sydney hosting the Mardi Gras once a year and a destination that is specifically for gay people year round! i was not trying to offend anyone with my question, I have never been to the Greek Islands and there for have absolutely no idea what to expect or what each Island offer's so im sorry if you think that makes me a "Troll"!!! I also said "USUALLY only go" i do realise that nowhere is exclusively for one gender, race or sexual preference (thank god!) i was just wondering what to expect!
gregingreece: Thankyou for your very informative replies! you have definately been a big help! :) I also apreciate the non-judgemental comments (as i was totally not wanting to offend and do not at all care what sexual preference people have!) Thanks!
viajero007: Thankyou also for your responses! I will look into Ios definately and see which Island (Mykonos or Ios) is better suited to what my friend and I were hoping to experience :) Thanks!
Harvey and ijuliano: Thanks to both of you also for replying! Its great to get different points of views :)
Thanks again everyone (except Thrym, who i don't appreciate the fact that he called a perfect stranger a "troll")

Bec_au, whatever gave you the idea that Mykonos is "specifically for gay people year round"? Were that the case I would never have gone there myself, nor would the thousands of cruise ship passengers who land there, nor the Greek students who decend upon the island in May, nor the people who go there to see Delos. A troll is a question put on a forum to provoke responses. Now I realize that your question was simply naive, not a troll.

BTW, did you think I was calling you one of those mythical creatures who live under bridges? ;-)

Oh, oops....my mistake! sorry. And yes i did actually think you were calling me a "mythical creature...." haha. I am new to thorn tree and was not aware of people posting things purely to get some sort of response!! I honestly have never been to the greek islands and was just wondering what to expect and was told by a someone not to go to mykonos as it was only for gay people (and no i am not trying to provoke a response!) so I of course thought I'd better check! (yes, i did think it was a little strange but as i said...i have never been there so i have no idea!) Im sorry about my past post, hope i didn't offend!!...and I thanks for your posts! :)

to a fellow Australian bec au, Mykonos is an island with a reputation for its "no boundaries" nightlife [gay, straight, bi, whatever, whoever]
If you have the budget to match [it is expensive] and the endurance [after clubs open after midnight] and the quest for all day/all night partying, then you will most likely find it, even late September at Paradise beach and in Mykonos town.
Deceptive during the day, Mykonos town 'awakens' after midday, when breakfast is the main meal of the day and beaches often get crowded after 16.00h.
Paradise beach is infamous for its day clubbing.
Ios on the other hand [I've never been ]apparently is more of a rave type scene for the 18-25's, - but whatever, you could easily pop over from Santorini and have a look.

Bec, I just got back from Mykonos - and its the 2nd time I've been and both times in a group of single girls. We've met loads of straight guys too :) I've lived in Sydney too and to me Mykonos is pretty much the same... its a mixture of all people. I guess compared to the other islands it gaters for the gay crowd more than they do, but I wouldn't call it a gay island. If you can afford I would definately recommend it.. Its so much fun and you will meet loads of people. I've had friends that went to both Ios and Mykonos and Mykonos always comes out on top... that is unless you like going out with loads of drunk teenagers.

Okay Bec, I'm glad you are a good sport, and so am I. Go on the Fodors.com website and you will see that Mykonos is the second most popular island after Santorini for affluent middle-aged American couples. Now THAT might put some people off going there. ;-)

Haha, Yes now that may definately make me not go there ;) ....just joking!!! (I can't have anyone thinking this is a "troll" now can I!? hehe) Thanks also for that site recommendation, its quite a handy little one isn't it! oh by the way, what country are you from?? and thanks for being a good sport and forgiving my "naive" comments! haha
dianab1: Thanks for that! everyone is being so helpful and its good to get an opinion from a fellow aussie :)
thumathe: thanks to you also! Your comment was great! Mykonos does sound like the one to go to I'm thinking! (Im 24 so no,
drunk teenagers isn't really my thing! haha)
