Hi,
Myself and a friend are traveling to the Greek Islands at the end of september and are planning on going to Santorini and Mykonos. Just recently i heard that Mykonos was the 'gay friendly island' (sorry i don't mean that to sound bad in anyway!!) Does anyone know if this is true? And do people usually only go there if they are gay? (we are both single and straight) We were wanting to go to a party island after the tranquil vibe that santorini apparently has! we were thinking of staying at paradise beach if that helps at all!...If anyone could shed some light on this for me that would be much a appreciated :) Thanks in advance!!
Bec

This surely must be a troll, but I will answer anyway. Your bio says you are an Aussie. Sydney has the Mardi Gras, so does that mean all Sydneysiders are gay? Of course not. Mykonos is visited by all kinds of people, but you may be disappointed if you are looking for a party scene at the end of September.

With all due respect Thyrm, everybody knows that Mykonos is a gay friendly island, it has been that way for years and bec's query is totally logical, of course so is your answer that Mykonos is visited by all kinds of people, but you will find a lot more gay couples on Mykonos than you will Santorini for instance.....the fact is that it is a sort of "Gay Mecca" but the bottom line is that it's a party island no matter whether you are gay or straight and believe me the end of September is the best time to go

Is the end of September the best time to visit Mykonos if you are "wanting to go to a party island", or the best time if you want it to be relatively quiet?
End of September the big party is over. And it is the best moment (and May/June) to visit a quiet Mykonos.
H.

I was on Santorini at the end of May, and was told that Ios is very quiet that time of year. I suspect it will also be quiet at the end of September.

Nooooooooo please not Ios, it's full of drunk tourists vomiting all over the place, getting into fights etc etc mainly due to the "cheap" drinks that are doctored with alcohol!
Thyrm I think Mykonos is one of the few islands where the season lasts longer and I meant a "party island" It may not be as chaotic as the peak season but it's still pretty vibey

Perhaps that's what the OP is looking for. We all like different things and it sounded like the OP wanted something a little rowdy after the tranquility of Santorini. After all, Ios may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is the cup of tea of A LOT of young, straight, partying tourists. Which is evident by the fact that the island is overrun with young, straight, partying tourists. For that reason, I was suggesting it.

Mykonos has room for all, straight ,gay ,celebs, backpackers, rich or poor and the party is there even in Septemper, so there is no reason not to go to Mykonos one of the prettiest Greek islands.
