We (myself and my girl friend) will be exploring the Pindos mountains (north of Iaonnina) in mid-May of 2008.
We know there are a few mountain huts we can stay in but is it possible to stay in private homes (homestays) in the mountain villages in this area ?
If so, what would be a reasonable price per night for a double ?

Thanks,Mike

I'm not aware of that but there are plenty of guest houses to stay. Expect to pay up to €50 per night for a room.

i think its rather hard to find private homes that rent rooms in the area. its not like the islands where everybody has a spare room to rent and you find people waiting for you at every port... the area is full of small hotels though and some of them are really good. your best chance to find a room in a private home might be in small villages where a villager might offer you a room even for free if he takes a fancy at you but dont take this form of hospitality for granted!

have a look at these sites too....although the first is about agrotourism there isnt anything but hotels on offer in the area but might give you some ideas! hope u enjoy yourselves! - trecking in pindos is really great!
