Any suggestions for hiking in Greece in mid-September? What kind of weather should I expect? Will the islands still be warm and sunny? Thanks so much for the tips!

Yes warm & sunny. For specifics, just google Greek weather September. To choose your hiking Islands, look at this website. A wonderful (obsessive) Belgian has devoted his life to trying out, describing and photographing all the best walks/hikes in the Cyclades. http://www.cycladen.be/IntroductionEng.htm Check out SIfnos & Naxos. Amorgos also has great walks but may be verrrry quiet by mid-sept. Western Crete is also a great area for hiking, but cannot begin to advise you on that, because you have not told us how much time you would have.

The weather is still hot and sunny in mid September. It is mid season as far as numbers of tourists go. The weather and tourists go off around October time.

I'm not sure what sort of hiking you have in mind, on the mainland or islands. If it's the mainland I have zero knowledge, but islands like the Cyclades, the Dodekanese or Crete I may be able to help with a pointer to suitable islands close together or something like that.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am undecided about how long that I can spend. Since I have never been to Greece before, I want to spend some time in Athens and would love to see Delphi. After that an island or two. I will wait to explore Crete another time since it seems like a fascinating destination. The main trouble I am having is...two many choices!
