Vivavivi,

Go ahead and take the above advice to heart. You have very knowledgable posters here who contribute daily. With the combination of relentless reading of prior posts months before I left and very specific questions to these contributors, I was able to have an incredible trip earlier this summer (despite the heat wave)! However, my trip was 3 weeks: Crete, Santorini, Naxos, Paros, and 2 days in Athens. Despite the great travel buddies I made on a couple of ferries, I found this to be very challenging for me (the ferry travel) eventhough I THINK I'm quite travel savvy. So yeah, skip an island as you mentioned (not Santorini!). I bet you'll have a much more enjoyable time especially for your birthday!

Keep a smile,
Simeon

Only two days (or not even that) in Santorini is a crime in my books. It is a beautiful place I've just come back from. You need at least three days to really appreciate it, though four would be my suggested minimum.
