Day 6 - Santorini
Day 7 - Ferry back to Athens
Day 8-14
2 day guided tour trip to Delphi/Meteora. From Kalambaka split from tour and take train to Thessalanoki and spend 2 days in Thessalanoki and fly back to Athens 2nd day night
Spend 3 days in Athens with a day trip to Epidaurus/Mycenae

Day 8-14

Trips to Epidaurus/Mycenae and Olympia

I am mainly interested in the Unesco world heritage sites and am debating between going to Thessalanoki vs spending more time Olympia

Any suggestions ?

  1. Do check out Thessaloniki. Olympia can be seen in a couple hours.
  2. Or you can check out more of the Peloponnese. Check out my Peloponnese suggestions here: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/europe-western-europe/greece/a-few-tips-for-travellers?page=1#post_22494607

Overall, it's a great itinerary.

There is also a direct boat from Rhodos to Santorini: every Thursday and on Wednesday June 14th.

Thanks for your suggestions. For now I have decided to skip Olympia (Maybe next time). I did check out the direct ferry options from Rhodes to Thira and the 14 hr monotonous journey put me off.

People are different, indeed. For me, a day on a ferry with calls at 5 different ports, most of them in the middle of small (all different) Island towns where you can see a lot of local movement from the boat's deck is by far less monotonous than hour long stays in airports and planes.
I like to sit at the sun on deck and to look just at the villages, beaches, mountains, other boats etc. we bypass, to have a drink at the deck bar, to chat with other people.....
